Switzerland : Anti-vaccine sling gathers momentum

In German-speaking Switzerland in particular, a movement in opposition to the vaccine against the coronavirus is gaining momentum. According to a survey, half of citizens doubt the vaccine. A federal initiative has even been launched to prevent the idea of a « covid passport »

Initiators :

Richard Koller is a computer scientist close to the UDC. He was secretary general of the Lucerne cantonal section, before being dismissed for having launched an initiative against the free movement of people in competition with that of the national party. He wanted to protect the jobs of older people in the labor market.

Also a computer scientist, Charly Pache was a candidate for the parliament of the city of Bern on list 13, that of the Greens of Mayor Alec von Graffenried. « A nature lover, pacifist and idealist who wants to improve the world », he defines himself. After the introduction of the biometric passport, he became very critical of the authorities. This former member of the Pirate Party advocates an election of the National Council by lot, so that citizens of all walks of life can sit there.

Prevent a « covid passport »

What can bring these two poles apart from the political spectrum? Both are members of the initiative committee « Stop compulsory vaccination », whose collection of signatures began on December 1. This committee wants to complete article 10 of the Federal Constitution by specifying that « everyone has the right to physical and mental integrity ». Further, he specifies that the refusal of a vaccine « must not lead to social or professional disadvantages for the persons concerned ».
