Platinum est le 5e album studio du musicien – compositeur anglais Mike Oldfield. Il est paru le sur le label Virgin et a été produit par Tom Newman.
Après quatre albums comprenant presque exclusivement de longs morceaux complexes, c’est le premier album de Mike Oldfield à inclure plusieurs chansons et morceaux courts, dont des reprises.
Le modèle établi sur cet album (une face avec une longue composition et une face avec des morceaux courts) sera décliné sur de nombreux albums de Mike Oldfield dans la décennie suivante.

Platinum este al cincilea album de studio al muzicianului-compozitor englez Mike Oldfield. A fost lansat pe 23 noiembrie 1979 pe eticheta Virgin și a fost produs de Tom Newman.
După patru albume care constau aproape exclusiv din muzică lungă și complexă, acesta este primul album al lui Mike Oldfield care include mai multe melodii și tăieturi, inclusiv cover-uri.
Modelul stabilit pe acest album (o parte cu o compoziție lungă și una cu piese scurte) va fi declinat pe multe albume ale lui Mike Oldfield în următorul deceniu.

Platinum is the fifth studio album by English musician-composer Mike Oldfield. It was released on November 23, 1979 on the Virgin label and was produced by Tom Newman.
After four albums consisting almost exclusively of long, complex material, this is Mike Oldfield’s first album to include multiple songs and short cuts, including covers.
The model established on this album (one side with a long composition and one side with short pieces) will be declined on many albums by Mike Oldfield in the following decade.
